About
Community interest
"Community Interest Companies" are limited companies with special additional features created for the use of people who want to
conduct a business or other activity for community benefit, and not purely for private advantage. This is achieved by a
"community interest test" and "asset lock", which ensures that the CIC is established for community purposes and the assets and
profits are dedicated to these purposes. Registration of a company as a CIC has to be approved by the Regulator who also has a
continuing monitoring and enforcement role."
Description from www.cicregulator.gov.uk
As a Community Interest Company, Generate Enterprise's activities will provide benefit to;
- Legally constituted organisations operating primarily in the 'Third Sector' i.e. Charities, Social Enterprises, Voluntary Organisations, Community Interest Companies, etc. who serve and promote public good within their communities.
- Individuals that may be disadvantaged and in search of economic independence who seek education, training and employment in IT or operational support activities as Circuit Riders to service a network of non-profit organisations by sharing their time resource and technical ability.
As well as reinvestment in the business and to provide employment and training, it is our aim to generate a surplus sufficient so that we can make grants to Third Sector organisations to help them to better achieve their own aims.
